لينتفع أصحابك (وَابْتَغْ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ) الجهر والمخافتة (سَبِيلًا ) طريقا وسطا. خرج النبي صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم فسمع عمر يصلي بالليل ويقرأ جهرا فسأله قال: أطرد الشيطان وأوقظ الوسنان. ومر بأبي بكر وهو يصلي سرا فسأله، قال: أسمعت من ناجيت، قال الرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم لعمر: أخفض من صوتك شيئا، وقال لأبي بكر: ارفع من صوتك شيئا2. خير الأمور أوساطها كما تقدم في أول الدرس (وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِلذِ لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَداً وَلَمْ يَكْر لَهُ شَرِيكٌ مِي اِلْمُلْكِ، أمرنا اللّٰه تبارك وتعالى أن نحمده على كونه لم يتخذ ولدا،

A run of consecutive words in this paragraph — three at the shortest — occurs in one place in the muṣḥaf and nowhere else, and every āya lying inside that run is credited, so a run crossing a boundary attests both. Matching folds together the letter shapes the scan confuses, so the words need not stand in the āya exactly as printed.
