O ye who believe! Let there be witnesses between you when death draweth nigh unto one of you, at the time of bequest - two witnesses, just men from among you, or two others from another tribe, in case ye are campaigning in the land and the calamity of death befall you. The root behind each underlined word comes from a Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim corpus, realigned to this Warsh text word by word; 125 of the 6,236 āyāt differ in word count between the two riwāyāt, and those were aligned rather than assumed. فأتاهما قال لهما: صاحبكما لعله باع شيئا من متاعه قبل موته؟ قالا : لا، ما وصل إلى محل السوق، مات في الطريق. قال: لعله طال مرضه فتصرف في بعض ماله؟ قالا: لا قال: إذا هذا جام من فضة قيمته كذا وكذا ذكره في كتابه. قالا: ما رأيناه، فأتى عمرو إلى رسول اللّٰه صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم فأخبره. فنزلت الآيتان، وبعد مدة وجد الجام في مكة، بل أسلم تميم الداري وأقر بصدق القرآن أنهما سرقا الجام وباعاه بألف دينار ورد هو خمسمائة دينار وذهب إلى ورثة صاحبه فأخذ منهم خمسمائة دينار. في تلك القضية نزلت هذه الآيات 2 (شَهَدَةُ بَيْنِكُم) ليشهد بينكم {إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمْ الْمَوْتُ) أسبابه (حِيرَ
