ذهب إلى الحضر نصف نهار قال: "عَاتِنَا عَدَآءَنَا لَقَدْ لَفِينَا صِ سَجَرنًا هَلذَا تَصْباً ، ٨ ذهب إلى المخلوق جاع في نصف يوم، ولما توجه إلى الحق مكث ثمانين يوما أي أربعين يوما بالليالي ولم يحس بالجوع، لهذا قال الرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم: من أخلص لله أربعين يوما نبعت الحكمة من قلبه وجرت على لسانه[37]، هذا أصل خلوة الذين يدخلون الخلوة أربعين يوما؛ خلوة ثلاثة أيام أصلها "ثَلَئَةَ أَيَّامِ إِلَّ رَمْزًا ، وخلوة سبع ليال "سَبْعَ لَيَالِ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامِ حُسُومًا . (وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَمُوسِىٰ لَى نُومِسَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى اللَّهَ جَهْرَةَ بَأَخَذَتْكُمْ الصَّحِفَةُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونُ ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَٰكُم مِنْ بَعْدٍ مَوْتِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكَرُونٌ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ

A run of consecutive words in this paragraph — three at the shortest — occurs in one place in the muṣḥaf and nowhere else, and every āya lying inside that run is credited, so a run crossing a boundary attests both. Matching folds together the letter shapes the scan confuses, so the words need not stand in the āya exactly as printed.
